New RHS-endorsed left-handed bypass secateur available this autumn

Did you know that around 11 per cent of the population is left-handed? In a world designed for the right-handed majority, we thought it was time to do our bit to level the playing field a little - for gardeners, at least. That's why we're launching a new RHS-endorsed left-handed bypass secateur.

New RHS-endorsed left-handed bypass secateur available this autumn

Did you know that around 11 per cent of the population is left-handed? In a world designed for the right-handed majority, we thought it was high time to do our bit to level the playing field a little - for gardeners, at least.

Cutting is one of those activities where the left-hander is especially discriminated against, whether with scissors, secateurs or even bread knives... since apparently most serrated knives are designed to give a straight cut when used in the right hand; using it in the left will result in a curved cut. It just doesn't seem fair.

Of course, the resilience and creative thinking of the left-hander finds a way, whether that's flipping the tool over to use it upside down, or training the non-dominant hand to be just as adept, even if if doesn't quite feel right. But wouldn't it be nice if there were to be a high-performance RHS-endorsed bypass secateur designed especially for left-handed gardeners?

Well, the good news is that from this autumn, there is. By popular demand we're launching just that -  a new RHS-endorsed left-handed bypass secateur

This new addition to the RHS-endorsed cutting tool range is made to exactly the same high specification as our existing right-handed bypass secateur.

A durable high-carbon steel blade gives lasting sharpness, while robust alloy handles give lightweight strength. Perfect for general pruning and for cutting live green growth, this new RHS-endorsed left-handed bypass secateur easily cuts up to 2.5cm diameter.

The new left-handed secateur joins another specially-designed left-handed version of a much-loved garden tool; the left-handed Japanese Razor Hoe. A hard-working weeder and cultivator, the razor hoe is forged from high-carbon laminated Japanese steel to effortlessly cut through any weeds in its path – with the blade on the correct side of the handle for left-handed gardeners.

With an RRP of £19.99, this new secateur is ideal for everyday cutting tasks around the garden, and will be a real boon for left-handed gardeners.
